ATVs: Come experience the view of the majestic Denali Mountain Range, admire the glassy waters and banks of Shulin Lake and enjoy the unique wildlife found in our remote Alaskan Mat-Su Valley. Our guests can explore some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world up close and personal on our ATVs at no extra charge.
Gold Panning: Finding gold is not necessarily easy and beware because one can't pan for gold just anywhere. Prospecting is allowed on only certain pieces of land and claim holders can be very protective. Not to worry though as Shulin Lake Resort Alaskan Adventures and Lodging has secured rights to several gold claims in the area. We will also provide guests with all the necessary equipment they will need in their gold panning endeavor. Fat-Tire Bikes: Explore the great outdoors on our selection of electric and fat-tire mountain bikes made for back-country exploration. As a guest of Shulin Lake Resort Alaskan Adventures and Lodging, you will have access to these bikes at no extra charge. Watch for migratory birds and small mammals early in the summer, and Ptarmigan and bears feeding on the berries later in the year. As a true explorer of Alaska, discovering the backcountry on your own terms, you will be moved, inspired, and exhilarated by this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Sherping: This all-terrain vehicle can easily overcome boulders, fallen trees, and other obstacles up to 1 m high. Because it is all terrain and fully amphibious, it floats perfectly and can easily pass marshes and deep snow. Hop aboard as we explore areas way off the beaten path and experience a unique and extreme level of ATV performance that is free to all our Shulin Lake Resort Alaskan Adventurers and Lodging guests.
Kayaking: Kayaking is an increasingly popular mode of recreation. Similar to canoeing, kayaking offers an active way to get out on the water and intimately enjoy the outdoors. On a clear and windless morning, the experience of slicing quietly across the surface of Shulin Lake is simply glorious. Shulin Lake Resort has a selection of Kayaks along with life jackets for our guests to use at no extra charge.
Guided Fishing: Our fishing guides and crew will lead our guests out to specific spots where they believe you will have the best chance to catch fish. Our guides are knowledgeable of the area and the ever-changing regulations. They will be available to prepare your gear and equipment, assist in demonstrating proper fishing techniques depending on the species, and clean and package your catch.
Rod/Reel/Tackle/Waders/PFD: Boots and raingear are available in a range of sizes for use during their stay. All of the fishing tackle is provided by our guides. We use top-of-the-line rods, reels, lines, and lures for our guests to put to the test daily.
Fish Cleaning & Vacuum Packing, Insulated Fish Shipping Boxes: We clean, fillet, vacuum pack, flash freeze and pack all of the fish in cryo-packed boxes so our guests can bring their fish home with them. Guests will also have the option of sending their catch to a fish smokehouse/processing business in Talkeetna, which offers fish processing services including smoking, canning, and steaking.
Par-3 Golf Hole: If you are like many, a vacation escape is not complete until you can practice your golf game. It’s hard to imagine a trip to remote Alaska could include something like that. However, at Shulin Lake Resort we've built our own Par-Three Golf Hole so no matter how remote, your golf game remains on par.
Pickleball: Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that combines the elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It is an activity enjoyed by many people young and old. We have a regulation court (also known as our helicopter pad) and provide all the necessary equipment.
Hiking-Guided: The Mat-Su Valley is a hiker's paradise, with thousands of miles of trails in seemingly every direction. The Mat-Su Valley spans 23,000 square miles, so if hiking in Alaska is their dream, they’ve come to the right place. After a long day of hiking, they can retreat back to the lodge and enjoy the warm and gracious setting that Shulin Lake Resort provides.
Off-Property Excursions: Guests can also request off-property excursions at an additional charge, that the crew will help plan and execute.
